Kia ora. The WellSouth Nurse Education team are offering some skills training for Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) working in primary care. This opportunity is open to both those on the PCPA (Primary Care Practice Assistant) pilot and other HCA’s working in primary care. These skills day will be free of charge with morning tea and lunch provided.

Description

The first skills workshop will be focused on covering the basics. This will include hand hygiene, infection control, vital signs (pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure – manual + automatic, temperature, height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, blood glucose and ketones, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, MRSA swab collection and STI specimen collection (urine + swabs).  We will focus on best practice and have robust discussions around this and what to do if/when something is out of the normal range.
