Description
Participants will gain sufficient skills and knowledge to be Immediate Life Support (CPR) instructors and assessors in their workplace.
- Current guidelines on Immediate Life Support for the adult, child and infant
- Current guidelines on management of choking
- Recognition and management of anaphylaxis
- Basic airway management including oropharyngeal airways and suction
- Bag mask ventilation with single and double handed techniques
- Safe and effective use of oxygen in an emergency
- Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Initiation of emergency response in both community and hospital setting
- Techniques for providing objective assessment and constructive feedback
- Teaching techniques including use of QCPR and scenario development
- Teamwork and communication training strategies
Note: This does not equate to a NZ Resus Council Instructor qualification. This comes under the Southern District Train the Trainer competency programme.
