Description
Aims / Purpose:
Provides clinical staff with core knowledge and practical skills in effective communication and de-escalation of concerning behaviours which present within a variety of clinical setting. Participants will learn how to identify and appropriately address behaviour triggers and/or unmet needs.
Desired Learning Outcomes:
• Application of Person-centred care in the healthcare setting.
• Understanding of the ABC framework to identify behaviour triggers,
which supersede undesirable behaviours.
• Apply the TA-DA and CALM approach to de-escalation.
• Improve communication skills through understanding the effect that.
body language and other non-verbal messages play in de-escalation.
• Sensory Modulation - helping oneself regulate.
• Building self-awareness
