Diversity and Inclusion are the cornerstones of a thriving workplace. Embracing diversity involves recognising the unique backgrounds and lived experiences that each individual brings to the table, and creating an environment where these differences are not only acknowledged, but integrated into every aspect of the organisation.

Description

Meghna from Ready Set is an experienced anthropologist, strategist, and transformational neuro-linguistic programming practitioner, allowing her to listen to what is being said between the lines and reframe complex challenges for quick action. She is able to highlight where unfair power imbalances are occurring and propose solutions to help people feel safe in their identities at work.

Join us on November 8th to gain practical insights on how to drive positive systemic change, support underrepresented communities, and create an environment where diversity and inclusion is a shared commitment.

In this session, we will cover:
  • • The challenges that underrepresented communities face in the workplace, such as macro-economic trends, layoffs, and circumstances that disproportionately affect underestimated identities.
  • • From a HR perspective, what are some practical, actionable steps we can take to create positive and safe workplace experiences and reverse these statistics.
  • • How to prepare your team to feel safe and open when talking about vulnerable topics like this, and how to prepare leaders for these challenging conversations.
  • • The South Asian experience (from Meghna’s perspective) and other minority myths.
  • • How to create genuine progress in the workplace, avoiding making false promises or sweeping diversity issues under the rug.
  • • How a work culture of being ‘overly polite’ can sometimes turn into an environment where people don’t know where they stand, which paradoxically makes them feel less comfortable.
  • • What success looks like, e.g. examples of a work environment that meaningfully engages with diversity in the workforce, driving innovation and productivity.
  • • How the feeling of inclusion and belonging is meaningless if there are still unfair power imbalances, e.g. belonging should be shown not only by “feeling welcome,” at a workplace, but through tangible and systemic means as well.
  • • How much and how often you should communicate about DEI to your team as a leader.
  • See you then!
