Aims / Purpose:
The aim of this workshop is to improve Healthcare Professionals fundamental Cardiology and Respiratory knowledge.
The workshop is divided into two four-hour sessions.
The Respiratory workshop in the morning and the Cardiology workshop is in the afternoon.

 

Desired Learning Outcomes:
The Respiratory morning sessions allow Healthcare Professionals to appreciate the importance of thorough respiratory assessment and understand the difference between asthma and COPD. Participants will also gain an awareness of the fundamentals of disease management and the role of inhaled therapies.
Also, the afternoon ECG workshop will introduce a number of areas: achieving a good quality 12 lead ECG recording, understanding the conduction cycle, and the difference in ischaemia and infarction with basic ECG recognition.

ECG Workshop:

Understanding the electrical conduction pathway and ECG rhythm interpretation (workshop)
- Rhythm recognition (e.g., sinus rhythm, ectopic heart beats, AF and heart blocks)
- Taking a 12 lead ECG, telemetry, and trouble shooting
- Infarction and ischemia on ECG
- Cardiac Rehab

- Heart Failure 

 

Respiratory Workshop:

- Respiratory assessment.
- Basic asthma and COPD pathophysiology
- Fundamentals of disease management
- Practice in inhaler use
- Management of breathlessness and palliation
