Description

Aims / Purpose:
The aim of this workshop is to provide Nurses with advanced knowledge in Cardiology and Respiratory Nursing. The workshop is divided into two 3 and a half hour sessions.

The Respiratory workshop is in the morning and a Cardiology workshop in the afternoon.

Desired Learning Outcomes:
This workshop will provide more advanced skills and builds on top of the Cardio-Respiratory Workshops.

The respiratory morning session will discuss spirometry, blood gas interpretation, management of breathlessness, palliation, and case studies.
The cardiology afternoon will present a case scenario, cardiogenic shock, temporary and permanent pacing, cardiac catheterisation and the intra-aortic balloon pumps with more advanced cardiac anatomy and physiology.

Respiratory Workshop:

- Non-invasive ventilation (minimal).
- Spirometry.
- Blood gas interpretation.
- Management of breathlessness or palliation
- Case Studies

Cardiology Workshop:

- Advanced cardiac anatomy and physiology.
- Understanding cardiogenic shock.
- Temporary and permanent pace making.
- Cardiac catheterisation, intra-aortic balloon pumps.
